Donations from private citizens, companies and municipalities that are truly invested in creating healthy and sustainable communities through the construction of safe, legal and accessible places for youth to skateboard are the lifeblood of the SLSF.
Donations from $1 – $49,999 are directed towards SLSF general operating expenses to help facilitate the business as a whole and expand the impact of SLSF.
Donations between $50,000 – $149,999 can be used to fund our skate spot development initiatives such as the Andreas and Maria Cardenas Skate Plaza in Panorama City, CA.
Donations over $150,000 are used for skate plaza development of specific projects similar to the Carls Jr. Lafayette Skate Plaza and the Diamond Supply Co. Public Skate Plaza at Hazard Park, both in Los Angeles, CA.
Every dollar counts and regardless of the amount you have to contribute we appreciate your support of the Street League Skateboarding Foundation!
Process
-
Upon determination of an acceptable budget, site and with community input,
SLSF will donate conceptual design services including documentation of the overall size, scale, character and caliber of project necessary to create a Street League Certified Skateboard Plaza at the selected location. -
SLSF Standard Certification – a skate plaza designed and constructed with SLSF best-practices that takes design cues from the one-of-a-kind skate plazas that Street League Skateboarding builds each year in world-class arenas around the country.
-
SLSF Pro Certification – a professional-level skate plaza designed and constructed with SLSF best-practices that would be capable of hosting a professional skateboarding event should the opportunity arise. The extra requirements for Pro Certification typically carry a 25% premium over the project cost of a Standard Certification.
-
After approval of the project,
SLSF contracts California Skateparks for design development including project design management (management of sub-consultants; geotechnical, survey, environmental, etc.), construction documentation (plans and technical specifications), structural detailing, cost-estimating, professional stamping, construction management services, etc. This will provide the municipality with everything needed to send the project out to bid if necessary.
-
Once a bid has been accepted,
California Skateparks will oversee the construction of the various elements shown in the construction documents and make sure the project is built in accordance with the contract documents by a qualified contractor, insuring SLSF can bestow an official certification to the completed project.
-
While most partners would be done with the project after the build is complete,
this is where our relationship with Street League Skateboarding, a global sports league featuring the world’s best skateboarders, comes into play. The combined social reach of SLS and SLS Pros is nearly 33 million fans and growing every second. Utilizing the reach of SLS, we can promote the opening of the project and guarantee the engagement of your community in a way that no other builder can provide, giving your new skate plaza it’s very best chance to provide a healthy, respected and long-lasting skateboarding environment for your community.
